SONI has published Tomorrow’s Energy Scenarios Northern Ireland System Needs Assessment (TESNI SNA).

 

TESNI SNA completes the TESNI 2020 process. It assesses the impact of the scenarios detailed in TESNI 2020 on the Northern Ireland transmission network.

 

The scenarios were developed taking into account the views of a broad range of stakeholders, and we are grateful to all who contributed. 

 

The results of our analysis show that continued decarbonisation of the energy system will place pressure on sections of the Northern Ireland transmission network. 

 

Delivery of reinforcement projects in the Transmission Development Plan Northern Ireland will be vital to ensuring that Northern Ireland’s renewable energy ambitions, including 2030 RES-E targets, can be met.

 

The results from the analysis in TESNI SNA will provide input to Part 1 of our transmission grid development framework for Northern Ireland.
