Working at SONI

There’s never been a more exciting time to join SONI. As a graduate, you’ll work alongside leading authorities in the energy sector as they develop cutting edge solutions to ensure we meet future electricity needs across Northern Ireland. You’ll also be making a difference to the future of the planet: As we lead the way in the transition to managing renewable energy on the grid, graduates will have an exciting role to helping to deliver a cleaner energy future for everyone in Northern Ireland.

Graduate Programme

Our Graduate Development Programme is open to all new and recently qualified graduates specifically those in engineering, IT, data analytics, cyber security, business, finance and economics. Our General Graduate stream is also open graduates from all disciplines.

What's in it for our Graduates?

Lasting two years, our programme is structured to give graduates rotations in three core elements across the Group. These rotations provide challenging assignments and exposure to different aspects of our business.

Throughout the programme, you will be involved in all aspects of our business. You’ll grow your knowledge and skills including getting involved in all aspects of our transmission system operation, understanding how the integrated electricity market operates across the Island of Ireland and in Europe, understanding what we need to do to continue to develop the necessary infrastructure through planning, consent, design and build stages.

You will be offered a competitive salary and benefits in addition to an accredited induction programme which runs over five weeks.

Throughout the programme we will continue to develop your knowledge and provide you with a suite of learning and development modules to assist you in making the leap from being successful as a student to being effective in a dynamic corporate environment.

You will be provided with a mentor to ensure you have the necessary support and guidance throughout the graduate programme.

Graduates Testimonials

“The graduate scheme in SONI has given me the opportunity to utilise my knowledge of the power network and skills I gained during my degree in a real world setting whilst developing my understanding further. Rotating within the graduate scheme has allowed me to learn about different sides of the business - from what happened yesterday on the transmission grid to what is expected in the coming decades and what impact that may have. SONI is focused on looking at the future of the power network and working towards transitioning to a low-carbon renewable energy future which is really exciting to be a part of and have a role in achieving this goal."
