In the Community

The electricity grid is vital public infrastructure that serves homes, farms and businesses right across Northern Ireland each and every day. But it's also crucial for meeting Northern Ireland's renewable energy and decarbonisation goals.

When we develop the electricity grid in an area, the whole community benefits. To do that, new infrastructure has to be put in place and that can only happen when we work closely with communities, local farmers and landowners.

Through our Public and Landowner Engagement Teams, we work closely with communities across Northern Ireland to upgrade the grid to support Northern Ireland's renewable energy ambitions and maintain a safe, stable and reliable supply of electricity for everyone.

Our approach to public and landowner engagement

Our Public Engagement Model and Landowner Charter

As Northern Ireland’s Transmission System Operator, we understand that people must be at the heart of the energy transition.

To support the timely delivery of Northern Ireland’s renewable energy targets, we are redoubling our efforts to ensure we engage meaningfully, consistently and as early as possible with local communities and landowners about our plans to develop the grid .

That’s why we have published a new, enhanced Public Engagement Model and Landowner Charter to reaffirm our commitment to working together towards a cleaner, more secure energy future.
